As the democrats spoke today to the ultra left Urban League they all
vowed to endorse their 10-point "opportunity compact", chief among the
proposals is the mandatory early childhood education beginning as young
as age 3 and guaranteed access to college for all. Hillary Clinton
promised "to focus like a laser on those earliest years."
"After all these years, I still believe it takes a village to raise a child," Clinton said.
Once
again the far left is trying to reach into our homes and tell us
"what's best " for us. With the failure of The Head Start program you'd
think the left would've learned a lesson.
"Consider the views of
child-development scholar Edward Zigler, a founder of Head Start. As
far back as 1987, when educators were debating the merits of universal
preschool, he warned, "'This is not the first time universal preschool
education has been proposed…[In the past], as now, the arguments in
favor of preschool education were that it would reduce school failure,
lower dropout rates, increase test scores, and produce a generation of
more competent high school graduates….Preschool education will achieve
none of these results.'" From
www.cato.org The
government does education as well as it does almost everything else.
The answer to our education woes is not an earlier start or throwing
more money at the problem, but if a bigger government can be had by the
democrats then, they reason, it must be better. Somewhere a village is
missing its' Hillary.
